If you are looking for a park outside the perimeter, check out Short Howell Park. Nestled in Duluth, the park offers a .30-mile lighted track, 1.25-mile paved trail and a pavilion to grill with friends and family post-run.

Downtown Duluth has acquired a face lift over the years. One of my favorite additions, a pretty quaint café called Chocolate Perks (3160 Main Street) can serve as a meeting spot for your next run. From the cafe, “roadies” can enjoy the roads by venturing out for a 3, 5 or 8 mile run. There is plenty of parking in this area, and delicious treats waiting for you once you return from your run! For this route, we’ll be taking it to the outside of Piedmont Park and around its perimeter. This is one of the routes the running group at Phidippides takes during its weekly runs (6:15pm on Thursdays). The route starts and ends at Ansley Mall, running the perimeter of Piedmont Park.
