Carl Leivers has been working with athletes in the Atlanta area for the last five years and currently coaches the men's distance runners at Emory University. Coach Carl is certified by USATF as a Level II endurance coach, and believes that systematic and progressive training will allow any athlete to improve and reach their potential. Ice Baths for Recovery

A big area where a lot of runners can improve in is their recovery routine; it’s the best way to make sure that you get the full benefit out of your workout. One way to help yourself recover faster from a difficult workout is by using an ice bath. It may be slightly more painful than drinking a glass of chocolate milk (another great recovery technique), but the benefits are well worth it.

The most important thing to remember when running in the summer is to stay hydrated. Being properly hydrated is a key component for a variety of bodily functions and for regulating your body temperature through sweating.
